Programme ISOS 2018

Every year the school programme covers different aspects of modern synthetic Organic Chemistry dealing with both established and emerging research fields at the cutting-edge of organic chemistry and related areas, such as analytical chemistry, materials, innovative enabling technologies. The 2018 edition will include plenary and keynote lectures focused on six different topics: synthetic methodologies, nanostructured catalysts for selective transformations, multicomponent reactions in total synthesis, radical chemistry in organic synthesis, new frontiers in analytical methods, synthesis of fine chemicals (lectures delivered by two speakers from international companies).

Additional activities will include a special session on chemical weapons, a problem session and a special lecture on the evolution of chemical thinking given by Marco Malvaldi, chemist and novelist.

Poster sessions, oral communications and several informal meetings among the attendees and the speakers throughout the five-day schedule will further enrich the programme. All students in their final year of PhD have the possibility to briefly present their research in an oral communication during lively open sessions, in line with the main aim of the school to offer wide opportunities to young researchers for discussing their results and exchanging views with the leading experts in the field.

In addition to being an important point of cultural reference and scientific information for all organic chemists, the “Attilio Corbella” Summer School also offers a great opportunity to establish new and profitable scientific and interpersonal relationships, as a result of its friendly atmosphere involving participants and lecturers alike.

The International Summer School on Organic Synthesis is still the most popular summer school for young organic chemists in Italy and a unique venue to meet present and future colleagues.

We are confident that it will soon become so for all European young organic chemists.
